Which Tennessee city makes for the best weekend vacation & site seeing destination: Memphis or Nashville?

Which Tennessee city makes for the best weekend vacation & site seeing destination: Memphis or Nashville?
My family consists of two men, an eleven year old boy, and a seventeen year old foreign exchange student from Vietnam. They have an extra day off from school, so we thought about doing something special (barring this weekends weather permits). We've never been to TN.

If you're a fan of country music, go to Nashville. If you're a rock 'n' roller, go to Memphis! Memphis has Graceland, Sun Studios, and all the barbecue you can eat.

Other than Graceland and Sun Studios, there isnt anything for young kids in Memphis. Nashville is good for families. Frist museum, the opry, opryland hotel is pretty at Christmas and the zoo. There is so much.

Even though you failed two classes it is still possible to get into any college but it will take the next 2 to 4 years of hard work to prove to the colleges that you are worth the risk. Straight A's would be a good start. Extra curricular activities will also help. Even if you do not get into the college after you graduate, you still have a second chance. You have to to to a community or junior college for your first two years then transfer to TSU or Memphis. If you do really well in community college then you will be more likely to be accepted as a transfer. The added bonus about this way is that community college is cheaper and after you transfer and complete your degree, it will say TSU or U of M and not even mention the community college.

Don't worry. All hope is not lost. Just work hard and you will get into college. Here's a little secret. The University of Memphis offers developmental courses (fancy way of saying 'high school courses'). These are for people who didn't do so well in English/Math/etc. in high school. My friend had to take a few of the developmental math courses. The developmental courses would be the last option if you had to. I think that you still have a chance. Get tutoring if you have to. Find a study buddy. I know that you can do this! Just put some effort into it. You sound like you are very determined which will definately help you this upcoming school year. After my first semester of college, I had a 2.75 GPA. I was so determined to pull it up that I did pull it up to a 3.33 GPA. I have pulled it up even more! Just use your time wisely and study! You'll be fine! :)

All the decent colleges near Rapid City, SD and Memphis TN?
I'm going to graduate in a few years. I want to consider my options, and find a school around my family. If you can, please tell me all the schools you know of near Rapid City, South Dakota and Memphis, Tennessee. Somewhere 4 hours away at the most. Thank you for your help!

Well I can't speak for Memphis, but in Rapid there is the School of Mines and Technology. This is a great Science and Engineering School, but doesn't offer much else. Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD isn't as prestigious but might have what you're looking for. (Both schools are public schools/cheap). Also there is Chadron State U. in Chadron, Nebraska. I don't know much about it, but I think it is within 4 hours of Rapid. For Wyoming you might want to search schools in Gillette, Newcastle or Sundance. Hopefully this helps and hopefully someone else can help you with schools in Memphis.

hey,im sorry but elvis has left the big house for good!!!

Memphis sucks! it has a high crime rate- and itf you're wanting to be near downtown, you really are looking for trouble! There are plenty of nice towns in TN- check them out before making a drastic move and mistake!!!!

3
Memphis isn't what you are expecting. Its dirty and full of crime, stay away from downtown and never go to West Memphis, unless you are looking for meth and prostitutes.

a tutor should charge whatever is in line with his/her teaching abilities. I would say $20/ hr if you never taught before. and you are not a tutorial.

2
At least $10.00 per hour if not a flat rate for so many lessons

3
Well, whatever the market will bear. This company charges $50 per hour. http://www.professionaltutors.com/rates.htm

You have to decide why you are tutoring. Are you setting up your own business or just doing this on the side. I try to ask minimum wage for kids in school, but would ask more if I were tutoring a particularly difficult class such as college physics. You don't state what age group you are tutoring or subject. A lot depends on that and what your motivation for tutoring really is.
