Is the SEC really the strongest conference? Really?

Is the SEC really the strongest conference? Really?
I used to agree with anyone that would say the SEC is the toughest conference. But I did a little research and I looked at the "out of conference" games that the SEC plays and to be honest I haven't ever heard of some of these schools. Here you tell me....Western Carolina, Western Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Middle Tennessee St, Tennessee Tech, UT Chatt, Kent St, South Carolina St, Eastern Michigan, Richmond, Arkansas St, Memphis, Houston, North Texas, New Mexico St, UL Monroe, LA Tech, LA Lafayette, FAU, FL International, N.W. St, and my favorite, Gardner Webb(funny thing is, I have a gardener named Webb!!) These are just a few of them, there are more! But let's think about this. The SEC is good, don't get me wrong, but are they really the best conference in Division 1A football? Or is it they are all "good"(not great) and aren't that much better than the next team in the SEC and at any given Saturday they can beat each other. Now does it make them look better if...... say the National Champions lose to Auburn who turns around and loses to Georgia who loses to Vanderbilt who lost to Ole Miss, where Ole Miss lost to....just about everyone. My question is, Is the SEC really as good as people think and say!!?? **LSUballs- Funny thing your list of "the weakest" schools, that looks like a list of the teams that the SEC teams put into a hat and all draw for "ot of conference" games. Your school(LSU) is in this conference I'm reffering to, so I would guarantee you would take up for them. All I was simply asking was are they really that good, or just because they aren't "great" teams and they all can beat each other, does that make them look better?? I understand what the polls say, but does that make it "correct"?? jamesS- Auburn,Alabama,Tennesse are big names that haven't done anything lately! Come on, think about it logically. Take off your Gator hat, scratch your head, get a big glass of sweet tea and really think about this one! Add Georgia to the "what have you done for me lately" list. Yes Arkansas played for the SEC Championship last year against Georgia, but who else could you put in that game, Auburn was your next choice....seriously, the SEC has the most "decent" teams, yes. But for them to be the "strongest", NO!

wow, no the SEC is not the best conf...the Big 10 is

2
You sound like some disgruntled Big 10 fan. I guess Michigan playing Appalachian St. and Ohio St. playing Youngstown St. make the Big 10 such a superior conference when scheduling "out of conference". You're a fvcking idiot.

3
WOW I WAS JUST THINKING THE SAME THING THIS MORNING

4
Yes and every one knows it.

5
Here's the deal on the SEC. There are teams in other conferences that may be better (USC, Texas, Michigan) but from top to bottom the SEC is better balanced. The bottom teams in the PAC10, Big12 and the Big10 are really bad teams. The bottom teams in the SEC are still good enough to beat most teams. And as far as OOC schedules, look at this weeks OOC schedule of the Big10, PAC10 etc. They all schedule easy.

O.K. this is an article from CBS sports about toughest and weakest schedule's in NCAA football. If you will notice, 4 of the top 5 teams play in the SEC. All schools schedule cupcake games. It is good for their records and good for the cupcake schools because they get paid tremendously. For God's sake, look at Ohio Sts schedule this year it is ridicules. Your argument has holes all in it and YES the SEC is the toughest conference. Toughest Schedules 1. Washington 2. LSU 3t. Kentucky 3t. Mississippi 3t. Mississippi State 6. Army 7t. UCLA 7t. Stanford 9. Oregon 10t. South Florida 10t. Cincinnati Easiest Schedules 119. Louisiana-Lafayette 118. Louisiana-Monroe 117t. Miami (Ohio) 117t. Central Michigan 117t. Temple 114. Arkansas State 113. Florida Int'l 112. Florida Atlantic 111. Memphis 110t. Ohio 110t. Toledo 110t. Eastern Michigan http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/10299697

Well, they certainly don't seek out tough non-conference competition. And there may be the odd year that other conferences are stronger. And there are certainly teams in every competition that could run just fine with the elite of the SEC. But still, year in and year out they have more really good teams than anyone else. And though they definitely have a few bad teams, they tend to have fewer than anyone else. **EDIT - Coach Lombardi...you make a lot of good points, and I essentially agree with you. Maybe you slightly overrated the Big-11 (relative to the other conferences), but no big deal. But you said a few things that don't make a lot of sense. UCLA and Washington have never contended for a national championship? Well, UCLA did win a championship way back, and both schools have been in serious contention for a national title a number of times. Though for Washington, those days are looking pretty distant. I can overlook that, but I can't believe that you would describe Alabama as being historically an SEC doormat. BAMA??? They're one of the top 5 programs in college football history...probably even in the top 2. They've had some good teams in recent years, and they also won a national title in the 90s, and challenged for a couple in the 80s. And they had this one coach back in the day...fella called Bryant. You might have heard of him.

Everyone with any sort of football mind knows, understands, and doesn't have to have explained to them the fact that the SEC is by far and away, the strongest conference in college football. By the way, the Pac-10 (aka: The Pac 1 + 9) sucks, they really, really suck. PS: Hey veggie, give us your input on the SEC. Please....

9
no big 10 is.

10
the sec is the best conference. heres how it goes: (just doing BCS) 1.SEC (a lot of good teams and a good many mediocre team) 2.Big 10 (4 good teams. Ohio St, Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn State 3.Pac10 (5 good teams. USC, Cal, UCLA, Oregon, Oregon State 4.Big 12 (2 good teams Texas and Oklahoma) 5.Big East (2 good teams West Virginia 2 ok teams Rutgers and USF) 6.ACC (1 good team VT) Everyone is saying "Oooo the Pac 10 sucks. Washington (whos in the Pac10 has the hardest schedule! Also there are 3 other Pac 10 Teams in the top 10 for hardest schedule!! Soo f-u-c-k all u LSU fans who say the Pac 10 sucks

11
you play 5-6 top 25 teams a year in conference. Usually atleast 2 of those are in top 10 or top 5. Compare that to anyone else conference schedule. Also every team in a decent conference schedules atleast two cupcake games a year. Look at Ohio states schedule, it's the biggest joke i have ever seen. They play 2 div 2 schools. Even the whole big ten crew on college gameday thinks SEC is strongest. And they all hate the SEC. There is more speed in the south, all other conferences have alot of starting players from the south. SEC just gets the first pick.

12
I think any of the BCS conferences have weaker opponents to fill in the gaps of the schedule. It makes the big schools serious money since the wanna-be football teams pay big so their fans and alumni can watch them play against "famous" competition. I still have to rank the SEC tops. They're deeper with more very good teams. Most conferences have three, four, maybe five teams that can play with anyone in the country. The SEC usually has eight or so that can give any team fits. I think the SEC is one of the rare conferences that can boast tradition AND the here-and-now.

13
The term "strongest conference" is thrown around a lot. I believe the SEC is the premier conference and I'll give you my reasons. There are always seven teams that could compete for a conference championship. Auburn, Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, and LSU. When looking at there out of conference schedule, keep in mind there are no "gimme games" in the SEC schedule. Why would they go out and schedule a lot of ranked teams whenever they play such a tough conference schedule. (By comparison, USC has Stanford and Washington St. in their conference.)

14
The Difference in quality between conferences is the most overrated, over analyized thing in NCAA football. A bunch of games played in January, when everyone has at least a month off has very little relevance to how good the teams were in November. Hell, Ohio State played the championship game after like 52 days off. What other sport in the world do you have 2 months between the season and the championship? Those who would use the schedules as proof ( "look 5 of the top 25") seem to forget those are voted. They're not facts, they're opinions. As such, they are proof of nothing. The idea that if Michigan, Ohio St, USC or any other good team in the nation was in the SEC, they wouldn't survive is just fandom taking over reason. If LSU was in the Big Ten they might win this year, but they wouldn't dominate over a period of time, no one does in ANY conference. Any one who thinks the Big Ten is a joke should remember that Penn St was in the top 5 just about every year until they entered the conference. Every Conference will catch up to any team. The ACC took its toll on Miami and FSU. USC has lost 1 game out of conference in 5 years. They have lost to UCLA, Oregon St, and Cal while beating Arkansas and Auburn badly in that time. Does that mean the Pac 10s better? no it means they know USC better and can gameplan more effectively for them. There is a world of difference between beating a team you haven't played in 10 years on a neutral field and beating the same team when they know you, consider you a rival, and you travel to their place. Overall, I think the SEC is the best, but its a negligeble difference and its by no means every year.

15
If you say so, I believe it Just kidding the PAC 10 is better then the SEC.

SEC Five power house schools: Georiga, Florida, LSU, Auburn, and Tennessee. All schools that can contend for a conference and National Title year in and year out. All of which year in and year out have top ranked defenses. Three of which ranked in the top 10 total defense last year (Florida, Georgia, LSU) Four good/rising schools: Kentucky, South Carolina, Arkansas, and Alabama. All these schools have historically been SEC doormats. But with Steve Spurrier in South Carolina they are a team that won't finish with a great conference record but will beat up out of conference opponents. Bama has Saban now and historically is a very strong defensive school. Arkansas and Kentucky ussually aren't too good; but they have lined up enough talent to at least contend this season. Three mediocre schools: Ole Miss, Mississippi, and Vanderbilt. All three of these schools are improving but they can't improve enough to get through the dominate conference schedule that they face. Vandy improved alot the past couple years; but just not enough. PAC 10 One power house school: USC. Five good/rising schools: Cal, UCLA, Washinton, Oregon, and Oregon State. These schools are just good. Never really been great or contending for a national title; but they can hold their own against just about anyone in the country and have a chance to win. California is borderline National Power and this year they have as good of a shot as anyone in the Pac 10. UCLA is very good this year. The problem is defense. Which is way I don't count the Pac-10 as the best conference in football. But I will get to that later. As for Washington, Oregon, and Oregon State. All are good schools but not elite by any means. Four mediocre schoos: Washinton State, Arizona, Arizona State, and Stanford. None of these teams are very good. Arizona State being the best of the three. Consistentally lose to other teams out of conference. Don't have the numbers right in front of me but I doubt any of these schools won any more than 6 games last year. Stanford won what one game last year? Verdict: THE SEC! Five powerhouse schools that can beat anyone in any conference on any givin day. The Pac-10 is full of some very good schools, that have pretty good passing offenses...but the problem in the whose better argument is Pac-10 defense. The best ranked school in total defense for the Pac-10 was USC which ranked 23rd. Compared to 3 SEC Schools that finished in the top 10 Nationally. Next is Oregon at 30th and UCLA at 33rd. Most of the schools in the SEC play great defense. LSU, Georgia, Florida, Auburn, Alabama, and Tennessee all consistantly ranked in the top 25 in defense. That is the reason that the SEC always plays well in bowl games. Because they have already seen the toughest defenses that they are going to see all year; playing against roughly equal as good as offensive talent. The SEC is the best conference in football. Next its the Big 10. Pac-10; Big-12; ACC; and Big East can argue over whose next in line because I feel that in terms of overall talent top to bottom they are all pretty close to each other. *************EDIT: Correction. Didn't mean to put Bama as historical doormat. I meant that for the other 3 teams. Bama has been good and was a tradional power house but has fallen to just a solid team. As for UCLA and Washington...what have they done for us this decade? UCLA hasn't done much since 1997 when they finished 5th in the polls. They had a good season in 05 where they eeked out a bunch of close games but still in 05 they got blown out by Arizona 52-14. That is hardly the record of a team deserving to be in the Elite category. 99: 4-7 00: 6-6 01: 7-4 02: 8-5 03: 6-7 04: 6-7 05: 10-2 06: 7-5 As for Washington. 5-7 in 06. 2-9 in 05. 1-10 in 04....Do I really need to continue? There last good season was in 2000 when they won 9 games; back when USC was rebuilding and even then they got blown out by Miami 65-7 and lost to San Diego 47-43. I simply am not impressed with anyone outside of USC or Cal in the Pac-10. Sometimes the teams can put together a good season or two; but they play a few good schools and a lot of mediocre ones who will sometimes have a good season but will fall off the map.

What do you think of my story so far?

What do you think of my story so far?
High school, new school, new people, great. At first I thought a fresh start would be good for me. But, as I look out my window at the old, desolated school, I decide maybe a fresh start can wait. I’m from a small town, so I’m not used to the whole switching schools thing. My stomach cramped because of fear, I clutched my sleeve. I started tapping my fingers on the door handle. I don’t know why. I’m not even wanting to get out of the car. I just want to go back to my old house, curl up into a little ball on my bed and go to sleep. I let out a sigh. “Rachel,” I jumped, “Sweetie, I’m really sorry we had to move, but Dad’s job and all…” Mom tailed off. Mom was feeling sorry for me? I’m the one feeling sorry for her. Mom hasn’t lived outside of our old town since the day she was born. She wasn’t up for our move. Why did we move again? I can’t remember. Oh yeah, Dad works at this computer company. He’s worked there since I was about, um, 8 years old I think. He got sent to work at the center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. I was born in Memphis, so was my mom, and dad’s from Murfreesboro. So Dad was up for the move, it being his home town and all. “Really mom,” I forced a smile, “I’ll be fine.” I looked over at the school, old, dull, boring looking school. We passed by large oak trees, their trunks were huge, biggest I’d ever seen. (Then again, I’m from Memphis, we don’t have many trees there. Just lot’s of buildings and houses) I watched their shadows over lap our car. Then the sun would peek back out through the trees massive branches and old, dead leaves that were still attached. We had out sun roof open, so I could smell the fresh cut grass. Green grass, and I do mean green, green. Like the dark color of Green you find in the crayon box’s, and you always use it when you color in your grass on the picture you drew. Then when you use all of the pretty green color up, you have to use that icky color of green that nobody likes. “Ok, but if you have any problems with bullying or you don’t like the classes your in…” I cut her off. She was going to start rambling and go in ‘over protective mom mode’. I hate that mode, but then again, who doesn’t? “Mom, have I ever had a problem with bullying?” I crossed my legs and looked at her. “No, but this school is a bit bigger than the one at our old town. More kids, and you don’t know anyone here, no one can stick up for you-” “Mom!” I groaned and turned my head out my car window, sulking. As we got closer to the school, the more I wanted to turn around and high tail it out here. But, I knew I couldn’t even if I wanted to. Since my Dad works in computer software, you have to move around a lot for that business. But he’s high up enough in the business where he can stay in one location, and not have to go across the world for some type of meeting. But this time the location was my Dad’s home town, so he wanted to go this time. So here we are. Yep. I didn’t mind moving, I can still go to my friends houses over the weekends, it’s not that far of drive. I’m sure I would get home sick and have to go back and see my old house at some point. I’ve only been to four different schools my entire life; my elementary, my middle, my old high school (I only got to go for freshmen year) and now this high school. And only lived in 2 different houses my whole life; my old house in Memphis, and now this house here. “Ok, ok. Fine.” She parked the car, and got out. I, however, sat in the car looking at the school. About a million thoughts went through my mind at once. The first one I thought about sent a wave of nervousness over me, Principals. I saw the principal of the school. She was short, curly black hair that stopped at her shoulders. She was standing at the school doors, waving. Waving. Not the kind of wave that welcomes you into the school, the normal wave. She was waving like she was trying to flag us down, make sure we saw her. It was imposable not to, she started waving with both arms, yes, arms. I smacked my forehead and groaned. Why me? Of people in this world, why me? Everything bad always happens to me, I’m the unlucky one of the family. We’re Cherokee and Irish (then some other stuff I can‘t ever remember). “Double the luck” my Papa would always say. Luck of the Irish and luck of out Cherokee ancestors. I’ve never heard of lucky Cherokee’s, I’m pretty sure he just made it up. You know, so he could go around saying “Double the luck.” That’s my Papa for ya’. He’s why I have that hint of red in my hair. I snapped back in to reality when my mom nudged my shoulder. “Come on…” My mom opened the door for me, probably knowing that if she didn’t open the door, I never would. It’s not like I’m in a rush to meet the Principal. Who would be anyway? She was wearing a bright red top with a denim skirt. Yeah, it sounds like it would go together. But the texture of the top just made her look like she belonged in a circus. I keep my mouth shu

This is the only book I have ever wanted to read on Yahoo! Answers Most of them are just wanna bes' how old are you please PLEAE email the fished copy i would suggest in the thrid paragraph that you dont add the word "um". most people usually use it when people are talking like "Um..sure, if thats what you want." I said, unsure. You should revise the sentence in the 3rd paragraph where it says I looked over at the school, old, dull, boring looking school.

2
-You switched tenses in the beginning. -I think you meant 'trailed off' not 'tailed off'. -I didn't read any further than the first two paragraphs because it is just too unoriginal; the whole new kid moving and dealing with a new school shindig... -Also, you are telling way too much way too soon. I understand it is first person, but the character is so informal that it is kind of annoying. With her say "um" and "Why did we move again? I can’t remember. Oh yeah..." is odd. She really didn't remember or is she being sarcastic? I think you need more description to tell the story instead of the character just spilling the beans.

My family is always trying to make me look and feel stupid? And are mean to me?

My family is always trying to make me look and feel stupid? And are mean to me?
My mom and step dad always call me a dumb*** cause I'm clumbsy. And my papaw thinks I'm stupid and that I run into things on purpose when I don't. I run into things cause I don't see them...everything is like an invisible wall to me. And they're always calling me stupid cause I have dirty blonde-brown hair. Yet I'm smart, one of the smartest in class, but just not common sense smart. And my little sister is a kiss up, and she's OCD, like the rest of the family. But I'm the only one that isn't, and they are always like "Why can't you be like your sister?! She's outgoing and has good work ethic." But I'm shy, and I have good work ethic. And they don't know what she does. We're not allowed to date, which we do anyway....but I don't tell people. She tells our family when she has a boyfriend and doesn't get introuble for it. And they think she's better than me, but she's a little weakling that thinks she needs a man to count on and live. She got on her knees and begged this on guy to date her! And she always says she could never live without guys, and she's just annoying. Like she over shadows me. It's like I'm the odd outkast of the family. I read, I'm not cocky and confident, I like rock, screamo, hip-hop, metal, christian rock, metal and hip-hop. and they all like the opposite. And I'm the only pale one. I always try my hardest in school. I actually want to go to college. None of my family did. I'm not real girly. All of my family are Jehovah's witness, But I'm like closer to Pentecostal, except don't wear skirts. All the girls in my family dress like tramps, I don't. I'm like the odd one out in my family. And I'm more stable than them. And my nana and mom try to control my life, like, "You are going to UT Knox, it's the closest to home, cause there is no way you're going to University or Memphis." But I don't want to go to either, I want to go to Arizona. I just don't want to speak up. I want to get away from them is why I want to go to Arizona...not anywhere in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, etc. But I'm in 7th grade I don't need to worry about that. But anyways, They always call me stuff and talk to me slowly like I'm mentally retarded and stuff. I can't speak up cause I don't want to get grounded. What do I do? Advice pleaseeee. sorry if it's too long They will just laugh if I say I want to go to Arizona for college...cause right now I am in 7th grade. They even laughed when I said I wanted to be a Special Victim's Unit Detective a few days ago.

Make your self economically independent. Get rid of them by going away to some new place. Start living independently. Start speaking from now on and defend your self. Offense is the best defense sometimes.

Sorry for what you are experiencing. God will surely help you. I think your problem is not something that can be handle by a simple answer online. I will advice you to talk to a pastor, because you need some counseling and guidance. Have you talk to a minister already? If not try to do that, ok?

3
I'm from a pretty close family, but I agree with the first response to your question. You're going to need to show independence. I know it's rough because you're a little quiet and shy. There's absolutely no shame in that. You're different than the rest of them. Celebrate your difference! Revel in the fact that you're different! You may want to check out some classes in dealing with shyness. You also mentioned that you run into things because you don't see them. Uh, my friend, you should get your vision, etc, checked out. You'll want to nip that in the bud before it gets worse.

4
Stand up for yourself. Don't be scare. They walk all over you because they think your a push over and people will take advantage of that. Put your foot down tell them where your applying for college (good luck by the way), and let them know it's your choice not theirs. The world is hard when you get out on your own and if you don't start to learn to be strong and stand up for yourself now it's going to be a lot harder after you move out and go to college. You think your family is hard now. Good luck!

Doesn't matter what they say about you - work toward what you want. but follow the rules they set and keep the peace. and it is not God that is doing this - It is the actions of people so pray for the strength to carry through.

Knoxville, TN... Want to stay here, but can I? (College question)?
I am a junior in high school right now and i decided to seriously look into some career choices. Right now I am considering becoming a pharmacist. I live in Knoxville TN and I really like it here, so I decided that I want to go to school not too far away.. After looking at some colleges I found out that UT Knoxville (University of Tennessee) offers a pretty good pre-pharmacy program but to go to pharmacy school I might have to go live in Memphis, which I'm not very eager to do. So I was just wondering... Is it possible to take the same classes that I would be taking in Memphis here in Knoxville and only go to Memphis for a semester or two? thank you to everyone who had the patience to read this. =D

Hi, I'm in Memphis. It's not all bad... the school is great... although I cannot WAIT to get the hell out of here...

2
I don't know if this helps, but Belmont U in Nashville has started a pharmacy program. The tuition will be higher than UT because it is a private school, but at least it is a lot closer than Memphis. You might also check which VA and NC schools have pharmacy programs. Sometimes when you live near the state border, they give you in-state tuition. Worth checking on. Good luck.

What undrafted rookies is your team interested in or has already signed?

What undrafted rookies is your team interested in or has already signed?
The Ravens been reported to have agreements with the following: http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/blog/2010/04/unofficial_list_of_undrafted_rookie_agreements.html Morgan Cox Long snapper, Tennessee A three-year long snapper at the SEC school. Cox was the long-snapper for the South at the Senior Bowl, which boosted his status. There are questions about his size (6-3, 248 pounds). Albert McClellan Outside linebacker, Marshall Undersized and athletic but lacks strength. He likely will be converting from a college defensive end. McClellan was a team captain at Marshall. Prince Miller Cornerback, Georgia The former Mr. Football in South Carolina wasn’t expected to be drafted. The 5-9, 192-pound defender had only one interception in his college career. He averaged 11.9 yards on 19 punt returns. Curtis Steele Running back, Memphis Tough runner who averaged 6.3 yards per carry and scored 15 touchdowns last season. His lack of size (5-10, 194) doesn’t make him an effective insider runner. Steele was a team captain at Memphis. Josh Morris Cornerback, Weber State Morris tied a school record with 26 pass deflections and made seven interceptions in 34 games. The 6-foot, 180-pound defender was first team All-Big Sky Conference as a junior and a senior. A transfer from Northeastern Oklahoma, Morris reportedly has 4.45 speed in the 40. He also was known as the team barber. Mike McLaughlin Middle linebacker, Boston College The most high-profile undrafted rookie agreement for the Ravens so far. McLaughlin is a solid prospect who was expected to be drafted in the fifth or sixth round. A two-year captain, McLaughlin is known as a vocal on-field leader. His reckless, hard-hitting style has led to injuries. The biggest knock is his lack of speed. For anyone disappointed with the Ravens not taking any CBs in the draft, notice there are 2 in the list. Hopefully they pan out like some of the past undrafted rookies did. Ozzie knows his stuff.

Steelers: OG Dorrian Brooks- James Madison S Da'Mon Cromartie-Smith- UTEP OT Kyle Jolly- North Carolina FB Demetrius Taylor- Virginia Tech DT Cordarrow Thompson- Virginia Tech C/G A.J. Trump- Miami (Fla.) We drafted a couple of o-lineman, & obviously Kevin Colbert & the rest of the Steelers front office felt the need to stock pile on a few more. Glad they addressed the o-line positions.

Question about the FAFSA, TN residents preferably?

Question about the FAFSA, TN residents preferably?
Ok, so I'm a high school senior getting ready to graduate in May and am preparing to fill out the FAFSA. I'm the oldest of 3 and so my parents and I really have NO idea as to what to do. I know there's that website and all, but that doesn't change the fact we don't know what to do. My dad is saying the he won't get all his W2 forms and such until at least February and the deadline for an financial aid that my school offers is March 1st. U of Memphis just to clarify. Also, I'm not sure how much, if any, aid I qualify for. My parents have both said to forget about any aid because of how much my dad makes, but right now we can't even afford for me to take a couple Dual Credit classes at my high school. I know I've already got a $3000 academic scholarship lined up at Memphis and the HOPE scholarship when I get it (I live in Tennessee) which will be $7000. Overall, I'm pretty lost when it comes to figuring out what to do. HELP PLEASE!! I REALLY DON'T WANT TO MISS OUT ON SOME AID

It will be okay if you wait for dad to get his W2 forms, but you need to def get it submitted before that March deadline. Aim for Valentines day (prod your parents to do taxes early). It will be well worth the effort to fill it out, even if you don't qualify for any grants most scholarship programs require you to fill it out anyway and it is how your school will issue you an award letter. Here is a good publication.

2
The fafsa will ask "are you going to file an income tax return". Your parents can answer this question yes, estimate their income and you can file the fafsa to meet the state deadline. Once the tax return has been completed, you should do a correction/update to the correct information. Your father should not automatically assume you will not qualify for aid and I strongly encourage you to apply-and make the state deadline.

OSU) is in Columbus, OH, Michigan State is in Lansing, MI, Marquette is in Milwaukee, WI, and UNLV is in Las Vegas. That's all I've got for now...

Try calling the newspaper in Somerville or the closest decent-sized town. Even if you can't find it in their archive, they may be able to tell you what happened.

AMES S COOLEY 11 Feb 197404 May 2000 (P)(72)(none specified)413-06-0761TennesseeSS-5 Letter Add Post-em Search Ancestry.com Your dates are good, the issue is that the location of residence is not specified in the social security death index. It confirms that he got his ss card in Tenn which it seems you already know. I find Peebles Fayette county funeral home in an old directory 901-465-3535. From the wording of your question.. seems that you are relying on online sources, which are great..IF THEY HAVE your info. Online sources are not complete in any sense of the word. One possible reason for lack of an obituary, James was young, and perhaps the cause of death was accident or suicide. Or, not everyone HAS an obituary, since those now seem to be for a fee. For courtesy reasons, suicides (if it was) are not published as such for the feelings of the family. On the other hand, I did find the social security index entry. I have 25+ yrs of experience.. and trust me, there are many times that others can find what I have missed. Sometimes it is just "double checking". My first step would be CALL or write this funeral home directly. If this is where family is, it is more likely he was there. It is not impossible he was cremated, hence there may be no cemetery listing. edit- http://www.wdbj.net/fayette/biblist/index.html#Funeral%20Home%20&%20Cemetery%20Records long list of resources for this county... but notice that many are book form, and also, that overall, they contain historical records. James is very recent.

The high school either doesn't have a web site or the kids messed it up so badly that it doesn't come up in the top 40 Google hits. I was going to suggest ou go to the site, click on "Alumni" and see if his class had page. If it did, someone might know something. You can still call the school, or write them a letter in an envelope and ask if the class of 1992 has a reunion committee. If they do, the chair may know something, or may send out a monthly e-mail update or . . .

Who's gonna make it to the Final Four?

Who's gonna make it to the Final Four?
#1 Ohio St? #3 Wisconsin? #4 UCLA? #5 Memphis? #6 Florida? #8 North Carolina? #10 Nevada? #24 Winthrop? My picks for the Final Four between these 10 schools would be. Wisconsin, Memphis, Florida and Nevada. Ohio State is a overrated team that is much like Tennessee, if they can't hit their trips then they're beat! UCLA I wouldn't be surpised to see them back in the Final Four again this year but the only reason I didn't pick them as one of my choices is because I haven't seen 'em play. North Carolina & Winthrop? Well we'll just have to see how North Carolina does tomorrow night, they're gonna get a good test. Winthrop is like UCLA I have no idea! Oops I thought North Carolina played someone else tomorrow I forgot about FSU. What a blow out this will be!

2
Whats The Final Four For? I'madogcop, Just Leave. But Anyway. I Say Its Gonna Be Florida, UCLA, North Carolina, And Memphis

3
Ohio St Florida UCLA and Txas with Texas winning it

4
Ohio St., Kansas, maybe Wisconsin, and Memphis(if they play up to their potential).

5
Kansas- they're goin all the way, no doubt UCLA- theyve got potential, they made it last year, i think they could make it again Texas A&M- Acie Law's on fire but cant say that i like the team. Texas(maybe)- they're good but u cant just rely on 1 person to do all the work for the team(durant) Nevada- They've had to easy of a schedule Ohio st.- same thing as Texas, it's a one man team( greg oden) Florida- They cant even handle their own confrence, how r they gonna make it to the Final 4??? Memphis- They look good, they have consitency UNC- they seem to be in a bit of a slump, but i think they'll do good

6
I think there are 10 teams that have a chance to win it all.. 1.North Carolina- very young but talented 2. Florida- Defending champs and are very experienced 3. Kansas- Playing very well in the Big 12 now 4. Texas A&M - have the best player in the nation in Acie Law 5. UCLA- the loss today vs Cal hurt, but they will be ok 6. Ohio State- the fab freshman can lead the to the final four 7. Wisconsin- Alando Tucker is one of the best all-around players in the nation 8. Georgetown- playing very well toward the end of the year, especially today vs Villanova 9. Memphis- no one really knows much about them but they are very talented 10. Pittsburgh- if they can win the Big East tournament, look for them to be tough to beat come next week.

7
1. North Carolina... Roy Williams has too much young talent on this team not to make it to the final four.. with Hansbrough being the only unanimous all acc pick for the second straight year.. you have to like the chances... 2. Wisconsin... i like Alondo Tucker's aggressiveness and think he's tired of hearing.. "Oden this and Oden that" BIG chip on his shoulder right now. 3. Florida.. defending champs and returning all starters?? come on.. yea they have been in a slump.. but look at their losses... Vandy.. at vandy... ranked 2nd in sec.. Tennessee.. at Tennessee who by the way was 3rd in sec and undefeated at home... i despise the gators but think they are good enough to make another run. 4. Texas A&M... acie law has been as clutch as any other player this year.. watch for the aggies making a run.. Honorable mention... Memphis.. lacking depth.. Ohio state.... not enough other than Oden.. on the decline.. UCLA.. afflalo is off his game.. big hurt for the bruins....Duke.. not having henderson today really hurt the dukies... but dont EVER count coach K out in the month of March sleeper pick... from the sleeper conference.. watch for USC and Oregon.. aaron brooks has been just as clutch as law this year.. dont put it past the ducks or the trojans this year...

Duke is extremely unlikely, and UCLA is very unlikely unless you are a California resident. Of the others, UNC and UTex are the hardest, but you have a reasonable chance of getting into all of them unless San Diego State decides to restrict admissions to California residents only

Southeast US: Which states do you like/not care for? Why?

Southeast US: Which states do you like/not care for? Why?
For me Like: 1. Texas (homey feeling, friendly, hot (sometimes too hot,) multicultural, cool cities, etc.) 2. Oklahoma (very midwestern, but has southern hospitality) 3. Mississippi (love the people, sweet accents, cuisine) 4. Alabama (like MS, except just a little more expensive) 5. Tennessee (Nashville, Memphis, Smokies, Oak Ridge all great places; friendly, beautiful) 6. North Carolina (although infiltrated by yankee transplants, the scenery is incredible) 7. South Carolina (Upcountry is a neat area, many old south courtesies still intact) 8. Georgia (decent enough outside Atlanta; Athens is nice) 9. Arkansas (the people, but not the scenery) Not like: 10. West Virginia (those people are OK, but they weird me out) 11. Virginia (no longer the South, rushed like NYC/Boston/DC) 12. Florida (at least its warm, but one of the rudest places I've ever been. Don't go unless I have to) 13. Kentucky (Used to live there. Poor economy, terrible people and drivers, bad schools) All in all, I love this part of the country, and wouldn't live anywhere else!

I hate it here Myrtle Beach South Carolina, this place sucks because it's seasonal, and if you lose your job here your done for, plus this really isn't a place for kids to grow up in, low edu. rate and old people, the shit keeps stacking up against this place, plus I was originally from Pittsburgh, and it was quite a change when I first got here now 10 years later and I still hate this place. Although this place awarded me with the gift of surfing. Still this place SUCKS

6
I like most of the southern states except for one: Florida. I lived in Florida for about 14 years and it was the most horrific experience of my entire life. Too hot and humid. The wages stunk, cost of living was very expensive. People were very rude. Too many stupid rednecks(like there's any smart ones).Anything metal rusted real easy. Prices of food would go up in the winter when all the "snowbirds'" would come down from up north. I'm so glad I finally moved back to my beloved Colorado.

According to the AAMC, the MD-granting accredited medical school is: University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine 62 South Dunlap, #400 Memphis, TN, 38163 In the medical training world, medical school is considered undergraduate medical education, and residency is graduate medical education. (Which gets confusing since in the broader, non-medical sense college is undergraduate education and med school is a graduate school.) A quick glance at the Knoxville site looks like it is where UT's residency and fellowship (ie graduate) programs are based.

month-to-month leases?

month-to-month leases?
I am looking for the names of any known landlords in the tennessee (nashville or memphis) or north carolina (charlotte or durham) or texas (dallas or killeen) areas who rent HOUSES on month-to-month basis. I am looking to relocate, and would like to have a house waiting for me, but I want the option of moving out once I find a house to purchase. I am open to moving anywhere south, so leads to landlords in ms, la, ga, etc would be equally helpful. I'm still in brainstorming phase, but want to be ready to move by the time school lets out. I have a decent career, so employment is not a problem. I just need a little help with the house-hunt. Thanks to anyone able to help!

3
UCLA....................................................

I can see you need some help with this one because you don't have Kansas on your list. They will be a tough team to beat this year. You cant make a convincing argument that they could not beat any of the top teams. I don't know if you would call them small schools but Xavier and Baylor look dangerous. Also don't sleep on Drake.

5
I wish that arkansas would win but i dont think this year will be the year, so im gonna go with North carolina. :)

6
i think north carolina will win but.... i'm a badger fan and they could have a chance this year.

7
You better put Kansas up on your list. They are the most well-balanced team in the nation. I read an article that described the traits needed to win a championship. Kansas, Georgetown, and Xavier were the only teams to pass. Take a look. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/news?slug=rivals-205442&prov=rivals&type=lgns

Need help with biography! Thanks! Please Look in To!?

Need help with biography! Thanks! Please Look in To!?
I am doing a biography on Elvis. Its due tomorrow and it has to be atleast 5 minutes, maximum 8 minutes. I really need help finishing it! I did most of the work, please finish! needs to be true information! please help! DUE TOMORROW! If you want to add more, feel free to! THANKS! Also i forgot to tell you it needs to be in first person! Me, My I you know! Thanks! l \/ My name is Elvis Aaron Presley. I was born on January 8th, in the year of 1935. I was born a twin, but I remain a twin no longer. My twin brother, Jesse Garon, died shortly after our birth. It was said that I would do many great things… When I was eight years old, I hitchhiked to a local radio station to perform on their “Saturday Jamboree”. My original hair color was infact blond. But when I was ten, I colored it black. For my eleventh birthday, I received the most important gift of my life- a guitar. That marked the beginning of my music career. I started singing and taking my guitar to school. Playing , “Old Shep,” and many other folk songs, during lunch. My family moved to the state of Tennessee, to the city of Memphis. I was in High School around the time we moved. My father, Vernon Presley, could never keep a job, and my mother Gladys Presley, did not get paid enough to support our family. So we moved to Memphis, hoping my father would get a steady job. I graduated high school, in 1953. After graduating, I went and auditioned for Marion Keisker, at Sun Studios. The following year, I returned to Sun Studios, and recorded a sample record, with Sam Phillips listening in. On July 5th, 1954, I recorded my first single, “That’s All Right.” Then in 1955, after a show I was doing in Jacksonville, Florida, Kernel Tom Parker, came up to me and asked me if I wanted to sign a contract with him. I reluctantly agreed. In 1956, I became very popular. I made my first television appearance in January. I appeared on Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey’s “Stage Show”. Also, I performed on Ed Sullivan’s popular variety show, “Toast of the Town”. Then I made my first movie. “Love Me Tender”, came out in New York City, in November. In 1957, I spent five-hundred thousand dollars, renovating an old estate, which I recently purchased. Calling it “Graceland”, it’s area consists of 13 acres. In December, five days before Christmas, I received notice that I was drafted into the army. Kernel Tom Parker pulled some strings so I could finish filming my fourth movie, King Creole. My other movies were, Loving you, and Jailhouse Rock. After completing King Creole, I reported to Fort Chaffee, in Arkansas, on March 24th. Then in August, 1958, Gladys Presley tragically died. I was astounded and filled with grief. I immediately flew home. A few weeks after the death, I departed to Wiesbaden. Which is in Germany. That is where I met Priscilla Beaulieu. Who is the daughter of an American Air Force Captain. When I discovered that she was only in ninth grade, I was astonished. Nevertheless, I saw her day after day. Finally, I told her that I really liked her, even though I was twenty four, and she was only fourteen. In 1960, I completed my tour of duty. Leaving behind Priscilla, I left to go home to the United States. A while after I returned home, I performed on television with Frank Sinatra in May. On March 25th, 1961, I performed live in Honolulu, Hawaii, at a benefit in honor of the U.S.S. Arizona. That was my last live show performance for a while. If anyone wanted to see me perform, they would have to buy tickets. NEED MORE INFO!!!!! In 1963, I had Priscilla and her family flown to Los Angeles for a visit. The Bealieus agreed to let Priscilla stay in Memphis with me. NEED MORE INFO!!! In 1967, I signed a new contract on January 2nd, giving Kernel Parker half of my earnings. I recorded, “How Great Thou Art”, which won me my first grammy. On May 1st, In Las Vegas, I married Priscilla, who has been living in Graceland for about 5 years. We had a baby girl, named Lisa Marie, who was born on February 1, 1968. I made it back to television December 3rd with a Christmas special, that rejuvenated my career as a live performer.

I can't speak to college level but my son was involved in ROTC in High School and it genuinely made a positive difference in his life. He had a great relationship with the officers and was made a platoon leader as a freshman. The officers instilled in him a "can do" attitude that carried with him into adulthood. When his step Dad was diagnosed with cancer, my son went above and beyond what any young man should have to and rushed to his side in the middle of the night to be there when he passed. That's the kind of strength ROTC helped him to find. Maybe you could go into ROTC chat and ask in there which school has the best program. I'm sure you'll get a great list that way. Good luck to you. You are to be commended.

Elite 8: North Carolina Memphis Washington State UCLA Pittsburgh Georgetown Duke Marquette Final Four: North Carolina UCLA Pittsburgh Duke Championship: North Carolina beats UCLA If I remember correctly, the Tennessee-Memphis is in late February? Anything can happen in 2 months (i.e. injuries). But if they played now, the nod will have to go to Memphis. Texas hung 97 pts against the Vols. Imagine what Memphis will do.

Financial AID?

Financial AID?
I'm a junior in High School (Memphis,TN). I have a 4.0 gpa on a 4.0 scale. I made a 1480 on the SAT and a 35 on the ACT. I'm an African-American female and the first to go to college in my family. I want to go to SPELMAN (Atlanta, Georgia). Tennesee is willing to give Tennesseans money for college, but only if they stay in Tennessee. I don't want to. Are there any sites (other than fastweb) that might have scholarships for me. Am I looking to early--I'm only a junior. P.S. Do I need a FASFA? I heard there are scholarships for left-handed people, too. If that's true, am I eligible if I write with -BOTH- hands? Tiare- Thanks. I'm not only thinking of Spelman..lol. That's just my number one. I also have Vanderbilt, University of Tennessee (KNOX), and Northwestern. I just want to go to a school with a nice medical or engineering program. I want to become a cosmetic/reconstructive surgeon or a computer engineer. My options are wide open. But I mainly want to stay in the south or somewhat near it.

First off, EVERYONE needs the fafsa, that is your one and only ticket to the big government money and all schools pretty much use it as well to determine any aid they may offer you, so yes you need to file the fafsa. You sound like an outstanding student - dont put all your eggs in the spelman basket. you should, at the very least, look into other private colleges. IDK about your state, but in Cali the state schools can longer use affirmative action however the private schools can. There are probably many private schools that would love to have you since you are a minority and excellent student and some will make you great offers to get a bright African American into their student body. I really think that the fact that you are minority with those type of grades/scores, this will open a lot of doors for you (and $$$$$)

2
In order to qualify for any type of financial aid you would need to fill out the FAFSA, so do that as soon as possible. Also If youre looking for an HBCU (which Spelman is btw) you can try Tennessee State University. MY family is from everywhere except TN but that seems to be where everyone in my family attended.lol Good Luck.

3
Okay, if you are a Junior in high school, you won't fill out the fafsa until February of your senior year, but you do need to start looking for scholarships NOW. You will have the best luck starting directly at the schools you are wanting to attend. Start a notebook, with a calendar through to your senior year, write down all the scholarships and the criteria and deadlines...even if they require you to wait till your a senior, by this time next year you will have everything in place to apply for everything.... (you can never apply for too many scholarships- FREE MONEY!!) THAT IS AN AWESOME ACT SCORE!! You are just 1 point shy of a perfect score and you are only a Junior. I'd work very hard and try taking it a couple of times again to make a perfect score.... then, more opportunities might open to you... but I think you got a good shot now. I seem to recall reading somewhere a lot of southern schools give scholarships to those who make a perfect score on the ACT. Definitely worth looking into.

4
Yes, you'll need the FAFSA as everyone here has stated. Junior year is the best time to start looking at schools that interest you. And with your SAT and ACT scores, there are lots of schools that would kill to have someone with your grades on their campus. I'd speak with your high school counselor about your desire to go to Spelman, but also, have other schools in mind in case Spelman doesn't work out. Your counselor should also be able to help you with scholarships, or point you in the right direction. Many schools offer scholarships, too, so you can look into that possibility as well. Good luck to you and congrats on the great test scores!

Scientists and professors prove that the Qur'an is the word of God.?

Scientists and professors prove that the Qur'an is the word of God.?
There is a lot of evidence especially scientific. He is some things that non muslim scientist and professors have said about the Qur'an. 1-Dr. William W. Hay is a well-known marine scientist. He is Professor of Geological Sciences at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado, USA. He was formerly the Dean of the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami, Miami, Florida, USA. After a discussion with Professor Hay about the Quran’s mention of recently discovered facts on seas, he said: “I find it very interesting that this sort of information is in the ancient scriptures of the Holy Quran, and I have no way of knowing where they would come from, but I think it is extremely interesting that they are there and that this work is going on to discover it, the meaning of some of the passages.” And when he was asked about the source of the Quran, he replied: “Well, I would think it must be the divine being.” 2-Dr. Gerald C. Goeringer is Course Director and Associate Professor of Medical Embryology at the Department of Cell Biology, School of Medicine, Georgetown University, Washington, DC, USA. “In a relatively few aayahs (Quranic verses) is contained a rather comprehensive description of human development from the time of commingling of the gametes through organogenesis. No such distinct and complete record of human development, such as classification, terminology, and description, existed previously. In most, if not all, instances, this description antedates by many centuries the recording of the various stages of human embryonic and fetal development recorded in the traditional scientific literature.” 3-Dr. Yoshihide Kozai is Professor Emeritus at Tokyo University, Hongo, Tokyo, Japan, and was the Director of the National Astronomical Observatory, Mitaka, Tokyo, Japan. He said: “I am very much impressed by finding true astronomical facts in [the] Quran, and for us the modern astronomers have been studying very small pieces of the universe. We’ve concentrated our efforts for understanding of [a] very small part. Because by using telescopes, we can see only very few parts [of] the sky without thinking [about the] whole universe. So, by reading [the] Quran and by answering to the questions, I think I can find my future way for investigation of the universe.” 4-Dr. E. Marshall Johnson is Professor Emeritus of Anatomy and Developmental Biology at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. There, for 22 years he was Professor of Anatomy, the Chairman of the Department of Anatomy, and the Director of the Daniel Baugh Institute. He was also the President of the Teratology Society. He has authored more than 200 publications. “Summary: The Quran describes not only the development of external form, but emphasizes also the internal stages, the stages inside the embryo, of its creation and development, emphasizing major events recognized by contemporary science.” Also he said: “As a scientist, I can only deal with things which I can specifically see. I can understand embryology and developmental biology. I can understand the words that are translated to me from the Quran. As I gave the example before, if I were to transpose myself into that era, knowing what I knew today and describing things, I could not describe the things which were described. I see no evidence for the fact to refute the concept that this individual, Muhammad, had to be developing this information from some place. So I see nothing here in conflict with the concept that divine intervention was involved in what he was able to write. 5-Dr. Joe Leigh Simpson is the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Professor of Molecular and Human Genetics at the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, USA. Formerly, he was Professor of Ob-Gyn and the Chairman of the Department of Ob-Gyn at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, Tennessee, USA. He was also the President of the American Fertility Society. He has received many awards, including the Association of Professors of Obstetrics and Gynecology Public Recognition Award in 1992. Professor Simpson studied the following two sayings of the Prophet Muhammad : {In every one of you, all components of your creation are collected together in your mother’s womb by forty days...}2 {If forty-two nights have passed over the embryo, God sends an angel to it, who shapes it and creates its hearing, vision, skin, flesh, and bones....}3 He studied these two sayings of the Prophet Muhammad extensively, noting that the first forty days constitute a clearly distinguishable stage of embryo-genesis. He was particularly impressed by the absolute precision and accuracy of those sayings of the Prophet Muhammad . Then, during one conference, he gave the following opinion: “So that the two hadeeths (the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad ) that have been noted provide us Whats a lie? The scientists are lying?

Just forget them, you cant make them believe They are ignorant about our religion, allah has contineously told us that in the quran. They just think the quran is ridiculous and will deny every single compliment or evidence brought them. So no point bothering with them We allready know that the quran and hadith far outknowledges science and the most recent discoveries made has been given to us in the quran; something that could not be proved in the past and still the quran contains things that have yet not been discovered by scientists e.g. humans being made by clay There are hundreds of more scientists who aknowledge the quran, aspired by it also in their researches. The Ummah today is not strong enough one day muslim scientists will again out perform the non-muslims just like muslims outcompeted them in the past in caligraphy, Art, Maths ( Geonometry Numeracy Algebra) science and many more. Its only been since the late 18th and 19th century they have outperformed in discoveries and at this that time islam was extremely weak in Ummah even more so than today E.g. Civil war in Spain

wow, just stay in school and learn to write, good for you for keeping the baby, and most areas have schools check into your local areas. call or go to a planned parenthood they will help you

3
I don't know what to tell you sweetie only because I don't know that area, but stay in school so you can learn how to spell.

I applaud you for taking responsibility in your pregnancy but by the way you have asked for someone to find something you yourself can do shows you have alot of growing up to do. You need to get to a free clinic in your town and talk with them about the options and places that would be available to you. No one can really tell you anything about Tennessee unless they themselves live there and have been in your boat. I would try to get on Medicaid and WIC but since you are a minor you would have to have your parents help you in this. I know you have the father in the picture but you are not married and sounds like there is no financial income coming into the relationship that would support the child. You need to be the one to look around, this was your responsibility and now you have to work alot harder if you plan on being a young mother. If your boyfriend doesn't want you to terminate the baby, there is always adoption. Open adoption allows you to communicate with the child through the years. If you don't think you are ready for the unconditional commitment then adoption would be a great choice. Best of Luck to You.

5
(First it is really hard to read your post - future reference, it's good to type properly) There will be madness and frustration with having a baby at your age no matter where you go. If your current situation at home is not good, it might be better for you to look into going to another relative or a friend's to stay until things cool off or until your child is born. Your local hospital is the best place to start as far as looking for information on group homes or schooling. There are alot of wonderful sites for young mothers-to-be online as well, babygaga.com, pregnantteenhelp.org, and babycenter.com are just a few. Memphis is quite large, so you should have no problems getting the information and care you need. Best of luck to you and your baby!!!!

6
If you can't or won't have an abortion, consider adoption. You are way to young to be a parent! Now, don't think I'm being mean. I was only 19 when I had my first child, so I know how hard it is when you're young and not financially or emotionally prepared. However, those four years are crucial. I was an adult and fully took on adult responsibilities for myself and my child. At 15, you still need someone to take care of YOU!

i think google can help u find a school for pregnant girls.we have one where i live.those girls are not techniquly dropping out they just don't want to be looked down on so they have alo of people to relate 2 and still there high skool diplomas.i'm a young expecting mother 2.it's definetly a emotional roller coaster but i woul'nt change it if i could.my little angel is the reason i do everything i do.i'm 17 and 37 weeks prego.i don't have much longer 2 go.and yea iknow it's going 2 b hard but i have the support of my friends, family and the father of my child.don't worry u will be a great mom just hang in there it will be over b4 u know it.good luck!

to be truthful with you i got pregnant when i was 14 and i wasnt going to keep the baby either but i thought about it like this the baby didnt ask to be brought into this world that was the mistake that i made.....but she is such a blessing and joy into my life....the baby father was around in the beginning the he did a m.i.a on me came back and stood up and took care of his responsibility........but as far as you wanting to leave home because of all the things that your going to have to go throught with your parents its not worth it because they are the only ones thats going to stand by you when ever anything happens with you or your baby....plus you dont want to have your child in thst type on enviorment with all types of people being around you and your child so just stick in there and trust me everything goings to be okay....plus 2 years later me an my baby is doing pretty good

depends how kicking the bar or club you work at along with how well you tend your bar

Depends. I know someone from a town in North Carolina who makes 80k+ a year. It also depends on how felxible and ambitious you are about bartending. Sometimes you can make more money by doing publics events such as parties, weddings, etc.

Hmm, not really sure.

Kentucky or Tennessee?

Kentucky or Tennessee?
For me, I like TN Tennessee: As a Texan, I can relate to Tennessee people very well. Very laid back, mellow, friendly, warm. Just a great place to be. Beale St. in Memphis, Opry in Nashville, the Smokies in the east, Jack Daniels, Kentucky Lake, Reelfoot Lake, Oak Ridge, so many neat things to see and do. There are four distinct seasons, but winter is still relatively mild (well, cold by Texas standards, but still...) Plus, it's a football state! It also has great schools like Rhodes, Vanderbilt, UT, Belmont, and the Univ. of the South. Kentucky: beautiful state, but that's it. I found people there to be impolite and pretentious, small towns are very "set in their ways" and clandestine, the drivers are terrible, and the educational system is worse. (Plus, I can't stand all of the obnoxious UK fans around Lexington.) Even though it has neat landmarks such as Mammoth Cave, KFC, and Keeneland, I try to spend as little time there as I can while visiting family or on business

You are forgetting about Louisville, the Kentucky Derby, Bluegrass music, the Cumberland Pass, and Daniel Boone. Plenty of history there. And BTW, is Louisville University any worse than UT? And who is the perennial top 5 in Basketball? I'll give you two hints: They dress either in cardinal red or in wildcat blue. And what is the best known bat in the major leagues? Is it not the Louisville Slugger? My sister used to live in Memphis. Nobody more racist in the whole Mississippi Valley than the people of Memphis. Stuck up so that their noses looked as if they were perpetually bleeding. If your skin is not lily white and you can relate three or four generations back to plantation owners Mama Belle and Uncle Jim Bob, you are not blue-blooded enough tobe their friend. I drove TN from Chattanooga to Memphis. Beautifu, indeed. But I don't think I would ever EVER live there. I happen to be a double or triple minority and thelastthing I need is for some man dressed in a bedsheet to come knocking on my door just because my last name is not Johnson, Jones, Claggett, Richards or similar. Kentucky may not be the best, but neither is Tennessee. If I had a choice I'd rather stay put than attempt to live in either.

3
hey-- I'm really sorry that you found the people in KY to be unpleasant. Especially since the people in nearby Indiana (which is to the north, mind you!) are so nice, I experienced this living 7 years there. And I'm not even white, I am South Asian (Asian Indian) in ethnicity (but American nationality, a slightly "hickish" Indiana/Kentucky accent too boot!). I personally found Kentuckians to be pretty cool people, and I am surprised that you have not had that experience. Also, people in nearby West Virginia tend to be extremely nice. If you want to see unfriendly people, visit a Northeastern/Eastern Great Lakes area such as Cleveland, Ohio, or Philadelphia, PA. ;-) KYans, again, as other midwesterners and southerners, I thought, are nice people. Though you are right, Tennesseans are very nice folks. Especially in Nashville. I live in Georgia now (and have lived there a total of 8 years), and GA residents are equally nice to me. Again, remember that I'm neither white nor black.

I was summoned to jury duty in Memphis, TN but I haven't lived there for over 2 years?
I live in Florida now and have a Florida driver's license/car registration as well as Florida voter registration. My dad, to whose address the summons was sent, said he thinks all I need to do to get out of jury duty is fax a copy of my Florida driver's license to prove that I am no longer considered a Tennessee resident, plus I'm also a student in Florida and going to jury duty in Memphis would require me to miss school. Does anyone else have experience with this? I'm afraid they won't accept my faxed FL driver's license copy and I will get a court order or a fine or something for not attending. Thanks for your help.

If you're going to have friends, wouldn't they like you for you, not how you dress? It sounds cheesy, I know, but it's the truth. Response: Nonsense! You just need to look in the right places, it may take a while to figure out which friends like you for you, trust me, I've been there. You'll find them, no problem! You seem like a nice girl. ^_^

As a young woman, Mary Jones graduated from the Toronto public schools in 1854, at the age of seventeen. After graduation she began working as a tutor in Maine until she received her teaching certificate in the state of Michigan in 1857. She taught at St. Mary's Convent School in Monroe Michigan for only eight months however before relocating to Chicago, Illinois where she became a dressmaker. In 1860 however, Mary moved again to Tennessee where she returned to teaching. It was during her tenure as a teacher in Tennessee that Mary met and married George E. Jones. Mr. Jones was a dependable and devoted member of the Iron Molders' Union and occasionally traveled on union business. At times, Mary joined her husband, taking an interest in his efforts and learning about unions and the psychology of working men. Later in her life, Mary would advise women that, "the wife must care for what the husband cares for, if he is to remain resolute." I would also be sure to site the sources that this information came from, particularly the quote. If this is paraphrasing a source, you still must give credit to that source. 33 year old female in college for 2nd degree. Perennial student studying for doctorate.

Mary had a very interesting life beginning with her attendance in Toronto Public Schools to her graduation at 17 in 1854. Pursuing her dream Mary started work as a tutor in Maine the next year. From there she moved to Michigan to receive her teaching certificate in 1857 at only 20 years old! For the next eight months she taught at St. Mary's Convent school in Monroe, Michigan. Mary then briefly worked as a dressmaker in Chicago. However, her nature brought her back to teaching in the year of 1860 in Memphis, Tennessee. It was in Memphis that she met a devoted member of the Iron Molders' Union, George E. Jones, who she later married. Through him, Mary learned about unions and the psychology of working men. George taught her that, "the wife must care for what the husband cares for, if he is to remain resolute." and she later advised women the same. Age: 13 Sex: Female Education: Still in school 7th grade Occupation: Not old enough to work. HOPE THIS HELPED!!!
