Mr. Jones was a dependable and devoted member of the Iron Molders' Union and occasionally traveled on union business. At times, Mary joined her husband, taking an interest in his efforts and learning about unions and the psychology of working men. Later in her life, Mary would advise women that, "the wife must care for what the husband cares for, if he is to remain resolute."
